    £75.00

10.30 - 2.30pm Packed lunch encouraged! Create your own ceramic Ikebana flower bowl inspired by the traditional Japanese art of floral arrangement. In this hand-building class, you will shape a functional vessel alongside a handmade ceramic kenzan (flower frog), designed to hold and support flowers in natural, sculptural compositions. Focusing on simplicity and organic form, you will create a unique piece intended to celebrate seasonal stems and the beauty of nature. We will learn several hand building techniques including slab building, pinching and coiling. We will then explore surface decoration techniques which can be highlighted by the use of oxides on the day. Your finished piece will then be taken away to be fired and clear glazed and will be ready to collect from the Japanese Gardens approximately 3-4 weeks after the workshop. Please note: Due to the nature of ceramics, all pieces must taken away from the workshop for drying, glazing and firing. If you would like to receive your finished pieces, please make sure you are able to collect your work from the Japanese Gardens once notified that it’s ready. Your ticket includes garden entry and tea/coffee and home baking.
