Learn to Knit Socks
10am-1pm: Learn to knit toe-up socks
In this workshop participants will learn how to knit very comfortable socks from the toe, with a perfect fit using the Magic Loop technique.
We will learn how to work the invisible toe cast on, how to knit in the round using a long circular needle, how to shape the toe, work the heel flap, turn the heel and cast off at the cuff! Participants will practice the techniques on a "mock sock" so that they can knit the real size socks at home (pattern provided).
This workshop is suitable for knitters who already know the basics of knitting (cast on, knit, purl, basic shaping). No prior experience in sock knitting or knitting in the round required.
Materials to bring (not provided):
-100g of sock yarn (for those who have knitted top-down socks or are experienced in working with fine yarns) or DK (easier to see stitches for practice)
-3.25mm circular needle 80-100cm long (no shorter, no sock needles)
-2 small stitch markers
